UPDATE1 From SC Now:

Michael Hamlin wasn’t without a job long.

The former Lamar and Clemson standout, who was released by the Jaguars on Aug. 25, signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday.

Hamlin is expected to see action Thursday in the Colts’ preseason finale against the Bengals.

“Still got a week to impress them to solidify a spot on the team,” Hamlin said via e-mail Monday.

Hamlin, a fifth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2009, signed with Jacksonville in October and was placed on the practice squad. He played the final four games of the regular season and recorded three tackles.

Hamlin played in the Jaguars’ first two preseason games this year and had seven tackles against New England on Aug. 11.

With Dallas, Hamlin saw action in eight games in 2009-10 before being released.

At Clemson, Hamlin was an All-ACC first-team choice as a senior. He ranked eighth in the nation with six interceptions and was second in the conference with 16 passes defended.
