Clemson baseball has had the
#7 ranked College Baseball program in the last decade according to a study by valuepenguin.com.
The website studied RPI's (Rating Performance Index) and annual expenses of 295 programs from the period from 2004 to 2013. The data used was from the Department of Education's Equity in Athletics Data. The expenses included student aid, operating expenses, recruiting expenses, salaries, supplies, travel and other expenses. The school's RPI was given a 80% weighting and annual expenses was given 20% to determine a composite score. Clemson had a composite score of 61 which was 15 points below the top ranked school of the decade - Cal-State Fullerton. The Tigers had an average RPI during the decade of #15 and an average annual expense of $1,776,861. Instate rival South Carolina spent 3,371,874 budget during the last 10 years in baseball which was 4th highest out of 295 schools according to the study.
