Clemson lands JUCO baseball commit

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson landed a baseball commitment on Thursday night from left-handed JUCO prospect Andrew Towns from Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee.

Towns had offers from Kennesaw State, Liberty, and Western Kentucky and had heavy interest from Louisville, Missouri, and Tennessee.

TigerNet.com spoke to him on Friday, and he had great things to say about Clemson. "I visited about a week ago," said Towns. "I have been talking with Coach Lee since then and committed last night."

His visit to Clemson sold him on being part of the Clemson program. "It's amazing. I loved it when I visited and loved the tradition. Excited about the opportunity to be part of such a historic program. It's awesome. I love that it is a true college town."

The facilities were also very impressive to the prospect. "Definitely a big upgrade (facilities) from JUCO! The locker room was not finished while I was on my visit, but all other facilities were very impressive."

"I have yet to meet Coach See, but I like all the other coaches. Definitely a great staff to keep the winning tradition going at Clemson."

He finished up saying that he is "ready to work and help the team in anyway necessary".

In 2014, Towns finished the season 7-3 with a 3.84 ERA, 88 K's and 24 walks in 22 appearances including eight starts.
