Clemson hires new basketball play by play announcer

Clemson, S.C. – Clemson Athletics and multimedia rights partner Learfield Sports announced today announced Tony Castricone, a veteran play-by-play and host talent across several outlets, will serve as men’s basketball play-by-play announcer for radio broadcasts.

Castricone has spent the past four years serving as play-by-play and game host talent for several affiliates of the IMG Sports Network, including pregame, halftime and postgame host for Notre Dame football since 2010; radio network manager, basketball studio host and fill-in basketball play-by-play voice at Michigan since 2011; and on-air talent for IMG’s national broadcasts of college basketball conference tournaments since 2011.

“I thank our partners at Learfield, along with our staff, for identifying and selecting Tony from a great pool of well-qualified candidates from across the country,” director of athletics Dan Radakovich said.

Castricone joins color analyst Tim Bourret as Bourret enters his 35th year as part of the broadcast.

“We’re happy to welcome Tony to the Clemson basketball family,” head coach Brad Brownell said. “His experience on a national stage and knowledge of the sport will be a good addition to our gameday radio broadcast.”
