Pollack picks Clemson as his CFB playoff favorite

by - Assoc. Editor -

ESPN College Football analyst David Pollack was asked his opinion of his favorite for the upcoming College Football Playoff during Thursday night's Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

"I’d go Clemson," Pollack said. "Clemson’s defensive line is dirty, by far the most talented front in the country with guys who can two-gap and consistently rush the passer. I would lean Clemson because down the stretch they’ve been the most complete team. I don’t think Clemson’s secondary has been tested that much. I think when they get tested, maybe Oklahoma in the championship game, that’s their weakness."

Pollack has not been impressed by the recent quarterback play of Alabama's Jalen Hurts.

"Hurts has not proven his consistency," Pollack said. "Just when I thought he was gaining traction, he took several steps back in the Auburn game."

During the Auburn game, Hurts was 12-for-22 passing for 122 yards and a passing touchdown.

In 2017, Hurts has completed 133-for-222 passes for 1940 yards with 15 passing touchdowns and only one interception. He also has 868 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground.
