Clemson Football among ACC-heavy group running their state

CBS Sports projects an ACC school as the top team in all but one of their respective states.

CBS Sports picked the top college football team in each state and Clemson was among several ACC teams to come out on top Monday.

The Tigers, fresh off of the 56-7 drubbing of rival South Carolina last season, joined Georgia Tech, Louisville and Florida State as conference schools besting instate SEC foes.

"Yeah, when your state boasts the defending national champs and two-time national finalists, it makes this a rather easy state to choose," CBS Sports writer Ben Kercheval said of Clemson. "Coach Dabo Swinney has made Clemson a destination program for top-tier players around the country, has won on the game's biggest stages and the program shows no signs of slowing down."

In states with ACC schools, only Pittsburgh has ground to make up, as 2017 Rose Bowl participant Penn State holds the crown in Pennsylvania.
