Baseball America NCAA projections for Clemson

Baseball America NCAA projections for Clemson

by - Staff Writer -

With Clemson already named a regional host Sunday, we’re closing in on a noon Monday announcement (ESPNU) of the full NCAA Tournament field.

Clemson (45-14) is in contention for a national seed and potential home-field all the way to Omaha, but Baseball America has them on the outside-looking in, projected as a No. 10 seed.

They give the final two national-seed bids to UNC, which tied with Clemson for the most ACC regular-season wins (22), and Stetson, which won the Atlantic Sun and holds a top-5 RPI (4).

BA sends Tennessee Tech (RPI 23), Kentucky (RPI 30) and Campbell (RPI 107) to a potential Clemson regional and pairs the Tigers with North Carolina in the Super Regionals. Clemson and North Carolina did not meet during the regular season or the ACC Tournament, and with top teams being seeded 1-16 this year, they would be locked into a matchup in the Supers if they advance, unlike past tournaments where fellow conference hosts weren't paired.

The Tigers are hosting an NCAA Regional for a third-straight season under Monte Lee but are seeking a first Super Regional and College World Series appearance since 2010.
