Purnell Lands Another Commitment

by - Correspondent -

Trevor Booker became the second commitment for Oliver Purnell's 2006 recruiting joining David Potter. Booker had offers from Clemson, South Carolina, and Wofford. Booker made his decision shortly after receiving an offer from Clemson.

"I knew I wanted to stay close to home where my family could watch me play. The opportunity to play in the ACC was a big draw for me. Clemson really showed they could compete last season, and I believe things are definitely going to get better. I am just thankful Coach Purnell gave me the opportunity to be a part of it," said Booker.

The 6 foot 7 forward has averaged 16.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks in his career at Union. He will continue a line of athletic forwards under Purnell. He is a great shot blocke, who can play with his back to the basket or step out and hit the perimeter jump shot.

This is another in-state recruiting battle Coach Purnell won over South Carolina, and Clemson also still leads with 6-10 225 pound Tyrone McNeal from Clover.
