Aggies Knock Out Tigers

by - Correspondent -

Clemson's post season hopes came to an end with a first round lost to Texas A&M 82-74 Wednesday night. The Tigers were off to a promising start carrying an eight point lead into the half. True freshman Cliff Hammonds was just brilliant.

Hammonds led all scorers with 26 points. Hammonds continued to hit big shots with a hand in his face all night long to keep the Tigers close. Hammonds stepped up his scoring, because leading scorer Sharrod Ford was limited in his final game as a Tiger by fouls. Cheyenne Moore and Vernon Hamilton added 10 points apiece.

Joseph Jones led the Aggies with 25 points. Jones was really able to damage in the paint, once Ford and Akin Akingbala fouled out of the game. Both teams struggled adjusting to the Mountain West officials. The game was called very tight on both sides.

The dreams of run to Madison Square Garden were put to rest, but it should be an off-season full of optimism. As we project big things for the Tigers in year number three under Head Coach Oliver Purnell.
