Tigers Move Up in Football Polls

by -

Clemson moves up one position to number 24 in the top 25 polls this week.

Clemson was the highest ranked ACC team in all three polls

for four weeks, a streak that ended with Clemson’s 24-7 loss at Virginia

Tech. The Tigers were 10th in the nation in the polls and 12th in the

BCS entering the Virginia Tech game. Clemson’s top 10 ranking after

the win over Georgia Tech was its first first since October 29, 2000

when Clemson was 10th in the AP poll.

The win on September 16 over ninth-ranked Florida State was

the second highest ranked team Clemson has defeated on the road in its

history. The only win that is ranked higher is the 10-8 victory over

eighth-ranked North Carolina in 1981.

Clemson has been ranked in the top 25 of both polls in 11 of

the 13 polls so far this year and for 15 of the last 17 over two years.

Clemson was 21st in the final polls last year.
