Littleberry Suspended; Status Will Be Reviewed In January

CLEMSON - Redshirt freshman defensive end Xavier Littleberry's career as a Clemson Tiger football player could be in jeopardy.

Littleberry has been suspended from the squad by head coach Tommy Bowden for a violation of team rules. Sports Information Director Tim Bourret confirmed the move earlier Friday, but would not elaborate on the situation.

Bowden did not address the issue in a meeting with the press on Friday afternoon.

Littleberry was not with the team in Orlando for last Tuesday's bowl game. Sources say he made the trip with the team but was later sent home, but again Bourret declined to comment on the report.

Bourret did say that Littleberry's status with the team will be reviewed in January.

A 6-foot-6, 235-pounder from Millersburg Academy in Columbus, Ohio, Littleberry saw action in three games this year. In nine total plays, he registered one sack.
