we have at Clemson right now to make a major statement about college athletics. Today's N.C. newspapers are full of stories about the 'tarholes' and how they have allowed athletics to tarnish the image of a great, top ranked university.. Some wonder if it is possible to be both a great academic community and a winner on the athletic field. The question in the minds of many is can it be done and how? Those seeking answers need look no further than at our own Tigers. In a few years, we have risen from the ashes of an NCAA sanction to the heights of college sports with winning teams in most major fields. These accomplishments have come without causing shame to the university, the state or the conference. Good kids, doing the right things, being successful in the classroom and staying out of the limelight for not doing the wrong things. Combine this with Clemson's rise to a top twenty university and the answer to the question is very clear. It can be done with the right people in place to make it happen.
I hope some reporter or official sees what has happened at Tigertown and shows the college world what has been accomplished at this small town cow college in South Carolina. UNC cheats at a very high level and can't accomplish a winning tradition in every sport with athletes that are not capable of being college students. I expect the Clemson football team to have a B average this semester ... with no paper AMAF classes to keep everyone eligible. Let's GO TIGERS!
