a buddy went in once and told me one of the better linebackers we had back then , Larry Hefner, was the cook that day. this was while he was still a student. not sure if he got drafted but I know he did get a tryout with an NFL team.
I showed him the pic and he told me that it must have been taken on a Sunday because he always went to Dan's on Sundays to get a ham n cheese and watch Bonanza.
The most wonderful burgers in the world. I must have eaten over a thousand burgers from Dan's. Dan Gentry was a great man and treated we Clemson guys as if we were kings. Hamburgers from Dan's and grilled cheese sandwiches from the Juice Shop kept me alive in the late 50's and early 60's!
still there?
Right in the fork of the road across from the "Y" where subway is now.
Dan's Sandwich Shop was divided into what is presently TDs and Subway.
so much, can you imagine anyone waking to Dan's to watch Bonanza? Those were great days. I guess today's memories will be who they tweeted or liked on facebook back in the day. Go Tigers!
Glad you liked it! We originally saw the picture in a coffee table book published by Allen's Creations a few years ago. We were all quite surprised to find it, and Dad had never seen it before. I have seen it reproduced several times since then.
