Did AD say move on or bend over? Why a rule book? What about * note Judgement Call was used!

movie "All The President's Men":

"Its a non-response response."

What a load of crapola. Nearly as gutless as the officiating crew who, even supposedly knowing the rule and having the benefit of digital replay, still declined to make the correct call.

Mr. Radakovich needs to "man-up", simply acknowledge TO EVERYONE his basketball team got skrude by ACC officials, and move on. The rest of us have to move on.

yep. maybe they caused a stink behind close doors but probably another example of Clemson not making waves.

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 8:05 PM

If we do not cause waves then things like this will continue. We are bringing the conference exposure on the
football field and would like to be treated fair on the basketball court, that is all.

The coach and players have to get over it. Fans don't.

this is not the first time this has happened to the Clemson basketball team. following Clemson since 1951 and the same old same old. the only difference is this was Pitt instead of Puke or that team that has the non credit courses!

I think you just summed up the majority opinion of Tigernet&

certainly that of every long time Clemson basketball fan.

A lotta years we didn't have the talent of the Tobacco Road (&a tip of the ol' essoclub cap to John Loudermilk) teams and others, but some years we did and the crap never, ever stopped. I can't figure out if I'm tired of yelling about it or tired of watching it take place year-in and year-out. Both, I suppose.

Despite every argument for or against, the bottom line is the refs blew the call and it cost the Tigers the game

Re: I think you just summed up the majority opinion of Tigernet&

We seem to be asked repeatedly to "assume the position", that is to bend over and smile. I thought that after Barker left it might get better, but same old same old. We have taken many hosings through the years. I hate it for the team.

The Clemson fans have to move on just as the team does, but we cannot ever get over the blows we have taken consistently over the years from ACC officials.
Those at the top seem to take this in stride. It's just not right that it seems to happen all the time.
Don't see this happening on tobacco road.

Things obviously could have gone better at the end of the game but where are the answers to what the rules are and why did Clemson have two clocks with a .1 second difference? An engineering school should be able to synchronize clocks better. The coaching strategy was wrong (but everyone makes mistakes)and the clocks weren't synchronized(home team's fault). Let's not blame officials for other people's mistakes unless you have evidence a call was made incorrectly.

uh in his hand when the light went on. end of story. wrong call screwed Clemson out of a win

All over it.

So, A) Do you think our engineering college is responsible

[5]
Posted: Mar 10, 2014 7:52 PM

for clocks at the basketball game?

B) Do you know for sure there was a 0.1 second difference between each end of the court?

C) Was the ball in his hand when the red light came on?
C.1) If yes to C) is that considered "evidence"?

Yes to b and c and yes that would be evidence. What am I missing here?

how do you know they were not synced? Why even show the clock on other end of court? No one is looking at it at that point. The replay of the other clock's replay could have been off .01 seconds.
evidently they were synced during the entire game or someone would have noticed until the last play.

say, here's a thought....

why don't you read up on the rules, check the video and the digital stills and get back w/us.

Even is they just apologize for mistake

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 8:09 PM

If we can't get win, we would at least have that to show selection committe if we win two games at ACCT. This would show we have another game should have won. Does sound fare???

You can forget about the committee***

I have been a fan of a number of things DRad has done since coming on board. Very disappointed in this tweet. Looks like he made the obligatory call to the ACC and then rolled over.

I watched it happen live, and then about 8000 times in replay. We got hosed.

But what do you expect for us to do? We lost. We cannot change the outcome of the game. Does D-rad or Brownell, or anybody else bitching at the refs/ACC do *anything* useful? If the answer is "no", then why do/say something stupid that could get us fined, or worse, especially with the ACC tourney coming up in a few days.

Fined?? The ACC didn't "fine" unc for all the rules they've

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 9:54 PM

violated. I don't think a little yelling about the officiating done in a private call to the Commish and the head of officials would be out of order and it doesn't have to be publicly verified word for word.......there are ways to cite a fact and not make it offensive to any party......I wonder what Coach Brownell said in private to his team and staff. He's gotta be getting tired of the discrepancies....and probably wishes our AD would truly go to bat for them.

Sometimes, this kind of action from those in authority in Jervey, makes one understand the impression many have that Clemson has never been and never will be serious about basketball.

Lots of folks are concerned about attendance at Littlejohn--particularly student presence--and not acknowledging (in polite terminology) that the officials erred and that conference officials are aware of the displeasure is not going to help next season when games will be held off campus.

Looks like you are wondering about a lot and make strong opinions about things you don't know...

first of all, how they treat UNC has no bearing on how they

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 10:28 PM

treat us. I remember the extra year of probation, and I've seen the inaction on the ACC's part re:UNC academic scandal. Thanks to you for the relentless article linking. So that's not the right argument for raising a stink with the league office.

And second, I'm disappointed in the tweet, but I'm not sure that the private communication to the league office was as bland as the tweet. I would hope that we got the politically correct comment, and the ACC got some stern language about the blatant mis-call.

I think all of us hope thats what has happened....

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 10:47 PM

but his "tweet to the masses" certainly didn't indicate it.

Agreed, except I believe the right term is bent over.

I googled and found the rule book:

Section 7. Beginning and End of Period
Art. 1. Each period shall begin when the ball becomes live.
Art. 2. Each period shall end when the red light or LED lights have become activated. When the light fails to operate or is not visible, each period shall end with the sounding of the game-clock horn.
a. In games when the red light is not present, the game-clock horn shall terminate players’ activity.
b. In games with a 10th-of-a-second game clock display and where an official courtside monitor is used, the reading of zeros on the game clock is to be used to determine whether a try for goal occurred before or after the expiration of time in any period. When the game clock is not visible, the officials shall verify the original call with the use of the red/LED light(s). When the red/LED light(s) are not visible, the sounding of the game-clock horn shall be used. When definitive information is unattainable with the use of the monitor, the original call stands.

So if i interpret this correctly, then the refs should use the game clock (not the replay clock). The refs should have also ruled using the LED backboard light too. The basket should not have counted.

I appreciate this...

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 9:39 PM

But, it is not enough. We lost the game, on us...hit ft's, defend the 3, and throw it deep, we win...don't worry about officiating.....BUT....it came down to INAPPROPRIATE calls by the officials and they should be HELD accountable public ally just as I would in my job. Our ad needs to demand more, for US.

Move On

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 9:40 PM

He is saying that he knows that we got screwed. There is nothing that can be done now to give us the win. Everybody should stop bytching and move on to root for the Tigers in the ACCT...

Re: Move On

If that's what he's saying, then that's WHAT HE SHOULD SAY!
Not good enough for me.

This is why you are not the AD. Looks like you will be losing sleep or beating your dog by yourself...

What would Will and Sonny do in a situation

Posted: Mar 10, 2014 10:47 PM

like this???

1. Boil the officiating crew in nasty dry cleaning fluid
2. dump them into the Congaree River collection pits
3. Give all three the gargle-eye treatment(proctoscope w/o use of anesethesia.)
4. Give them these t-Shirts: When you're Dead, you're Dead and everyone knows. When you're Stupid, same rules apply--everyone knows.

Some good points..

[1]
Posted: Mar 10, 2014 9:50 PM

But I wouldn't necessarily call it "bytching" by everyone. This is a very unique situation with a ton on the line...it means more than just any other game. But even if it didn't, the league needs to take responsibility and make a definitive statement. Obviously there has been a lot of different things said and even rules posted. You can't just brush it all under the rug. t It needs to be cleared up regardless.

Dont blame the refs, it was an idiotic play by us, period.

Posted: Mar 11, 2014 9:10 AM

Convert a simple inbounds play and the game is over.

Our poor inbounds play does not excuse the zebras..

you related to Les Jones?

Orange Googlers Unite

Save Tigernet--Boot the coots(you know who I mean).

Agreed but the refs still have to enforce the existing rules

Posted: Mar 11, 2014 9:49 AM

and in this case, they did not.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Re: Dont blame the refs, it was an idiotic play by us, period.

I always told my teams that each game has two teams and the officials ... and rarely if ever do all three come together more than once in any season. It follows therefore that my players need to understand that they should make the officials job easy by playing in a manner that does not require any "help" from an official.

In this case the Tigers should throw the ball 2/3 down the court and high. Let a Panther grab the ball but be positioned close enough that he must jump to get it. So he grabs the ball at the top of his jump and 60 feet from the basket - impossible for an arm shot. He has time to hit the floor and heave it (maybe). A Tiger can easily move over between him (not too close - about three feet is close enough) and the basket with hands high. The Panther would need to be extremely quick AND extremely lucky ... not likely to be both.

It was indeed an idiotic play. THE major task at college is learning. I'm disappointed that this had not already been learned before arriving at Clemson ... but it is as it is ... what we saw.

In essence he says nothing of substance about this.

Political correctness pisses me off.

I'm trying to remember when something of substance

Posted: Mar 11, 2014 12:50 PM

was said about anything related to athletics.
