Who was in-charge of the outside gate logistics Saturday?
Dec 7, 2015, 7:53 AM
|
|
BB&T Stadium, the ACC, or a private contractor?
It was the worst experience at any event I've ever attended. The entire thing was completely unorganized. Whoever the person is in-charge of this at the very least should be reassigned to a new job.
Why were there so few entrances to the stadium? Why weren't the schools notified that every person needed to be checked?
I missed the entire 1st quarter and showed up in line an hour early to kick-off. Also, it was just completely unsafe.
For something to be at such a high level at a professional stadium at a Championship game....it was very armature ran. My local YMCA could have done better.

Women were not allowed to bring purses into the stadium....
Dec 7, 2015, 7:57 AM

Security forced them to either empty the contents into a clear plastic bag and toss the purse in the trash or take it back to the car. Those who even remotely complained was escorted from the premises and not allowed to enter the stadium. I've never even heard of anything like that happening before.

in place at BofA stadium that the Panthers use. NO BAGS allowed but clear ones, unless they are the size of your palm. If people didn't pay attention or think they'd be held to that, shame on them.
It wasn't just that that caused the lines - I've been to Panthers games a plenty and last year when the bag rule change was made, there were the same issues - but lines were never like they were on Saturday night. I don't think they had the same amount of security there for this game as they do for Panthers games.
At Panthers games there are multiple bag check lines with multiple security people. We walked around to the East gate after seeing the mob at the North gate; waited at the back of the mob for about 10 minutes without moving before hiking under 277 and around to the South gate. Still lots of people, but nothing like those 2 gates. But even there, they only had 2 tables doing bag checks and only 2 people doing the wand. At panthers games there are usually 10 bag checkers and 10 wand people.

You are right. The mob lined up at the gate made for a much easier target for any potential terrorist.

Terrorist a-holes who have also made it impossible to board a plane without a cavity search.
It's a high profile event that follows a spate of terrorist attacks---sucks, but it is what it is.

Dec 7, 2015, 9:26 AM

A. Everyone tailgated up until last minute and then thought they were walking into DV where there is little to no security protocol
B. Obviously several patrons didn't read the rule about NO BAGS and then this peeps argued slowing the line further
C. The Fan Zone caused a large majority of people to congregate around 1 entrance
We went into game on Moorehead St at 7pm...took 15 min to walk in.

Never seen it that bad. And the procedure was the same as it is for the Panthers games. Never waited more than 15 minutes to get into one of those games, and I waited an hour to get into the game Saturday.
The light rail was also a disaster after the game. Waited an hour and a half to get on a train. Seemed like very few trains were running. Never waited more than thirty minutes to get on the light rail.

I was just about to start walking the 2.5 miles back to Scaleybark.
As a Charlotte Resident, I was embarrased for my city that night. I have always wanted Charlotte to host the National Championship, or the Super Bowl. But I changed my mind around 1 am Sunday morning.

I got on one of those last couple of trains. If folks were standing and waiting for hours, I am glad I was wandering around lost for a bit after going back to the tailgate and saying my good nights and safe travels.

Stayed in for about 10 minutes and went straight to the station. I say it took us between 10 and 15 minutes to get there.
One thing I found strange was not having to use tickets at all to ride the train. I wonder if it is free for certain events?

Absolutely Worst Stadium Checkpoint !
Dec 7, 2015, 8:23 AM
|
|
Ours was just as bad and my wife dumped a $100.00 purse in trash to get in. Turns out it was 2 inches too tall and 1 inch too wide. Then we got a plastic clear bag for her contents and had to go to another line. I am OK with that but it took us almost 2 hours to get in the Stadium. We got to our seats in time to see kickoff. We left 4 hours before kickoff and rode the Lynx in. The return on the Lynx was another disaster as stated by others here. Took us 1.5 hours to get on and off at the I-485 stop. And trying to get Uber or a Cab did not happen because they were unavailable due to demand. Hopefully we get to go to many more Games in Charlotte but we are going to stay downtown if at all possible next time. Enough of my whining "WE ARE ACC CHAMPIONS, UNDEFEATED, AND GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS AS THE NUMBER 1 SEED!!"

Getting into the stadium was FUBAR! Had my 9 yr old grandson and 7 yr old granddaughter in line at 7:00. Took over an hour which is unacceptable, not enough gates open and insufficient security personnel. Additionally, the lack of light created safety problems: there were concrete curbs one could not see and unseeable waist high bollards (those in line were polite with people in front turning to warn about the hazards).
All in all an unacceptable experience for an ACC Championship game. Someone owes an explanation and an apology to all the attendees.

Never seen a city that had 75% of streetlights turned off or non-functional. The woods behind my house are better lighted than the streets of Charlotte.

Maybe we got lucky. We got there a out 1 1/2 hours early and went right in. The bag thing I had not heard but did not affect us. I saw it and would have been upset. I did see one girl who was extremely "happy" who had been not allowed. But I won't blame them for checking everyone. It is today's world that my 4 year old has to have lock down drills at school that I blame.

When we got to front the lady kept screaming "get in your lane. Im only suppose to check this lane and no other " so I looked back and tried to figure out what lane I was supposed to be in. Seems there there were four lanes and only 2 scanners where I came through. Probably same elsewhere.

Seemed like people at our gates were prepped and ready and I was impressed with both the process and appreciated the level of security. Sorry to y'all at the other gates, been in those situations and there are few things more frustrating.
