To Those Fans That Are Boycotting The ACCCG

First, I have respect for your decision. If you have the financial means and would attend the game under normal circumstances please support your team and pinch your nose doing it if you are that uncomfortable.
I don't like the decision to move the game but supporting Clemson take precedence over ACC politics...Always.
This decision was done extremely quick and the off season is the time to really send a clear message about the future of the ACC title game.
I for one support playing the ACCCG at the stadium of the team with the highest ranking in the CFP rankings........Speaking of which, would you protest the title game if it was being played in death valley?
There is far too most activism and protesting going on...I'll be d amned if I am going to let it spoil my fun and support of the tigers.
But if you don't go I support your right to do so even if I don't agree

I had tickets for the game in Charlotte.

And, I guarantee you I would be there. Also, I would be there if played at Death Valley.
However, do not ask me to compromise my principles and beliefs because the ACC wants men in women's bathrooms and vice versa. It's wrong, period. The ACC will not get the pleasure of my attendance to further their misguided morality.

I stated I had tickets to the game in Charlotte. I accepted the refund offered.
And, I was answering your question -
"I for one support playing the ACCCG at the stadium of the team with the highest ranking in the CFP rankings........Speaking of which, would you protest the title game if it was being played in death valley?"
I read your reply as sarcastic. If it was not your intention, I apologize.
But, otherwise, I will stand on my principles of not supporting the CG except by watching Clemson on TV.

Sorry if it did...All I am say is that if I protested everything or everyone that I didn't agree with I would sit at home all day and be miserable....Not my cup of tea.

I specifically remember several years ago, Clemson was considering a Sunday game. I stated then, as I do now, I wouldn't attend.

Wait, we aren't a theocracy. We are a democracy with freedom of religion. So it's been a longstanding tradition in this country that laws can't be made based on religion. In fact it's against the constitution, and the 14th amendment gives all Americans guarantee of their rights to not be discriminated against by the government.

Just because you have freedom to do something, it doesn't mean you should, especially if it violates someone's rights. I have the freedom to break a law; it doesn't mean I should. There are repercussions.
I will exercise my right to 'civil disobedience' since I answer to a higher Authority than the US and state government. If repercussions are meted out, then so be it. I won't be rioting destroying property and other people's property and cause disruptions to other people's daily lives.
Hope you find your rainbows and unicorns.

I think I opened a can of worms inadvertently...
My friend, we aren't a democracy, we are a constitutional representative republic and I could have a fun time debating the first amendment and Reconstruction amendments with you when I have time...
I'll end this by saying that only the Federal Government cannot pass laws that are religious based specifically. Freedom of religion doesn't mean absence of religions and the 10th Amendment gives the States great powers to do what over they want...but legal scholars have been debating this for decades...they can't figure it out any better than fans on a message board...LOL

The United States of America, not a confederation. Any local made based on religion is invalid by the constitution.

The Bill of rights applies to all people and protects those rights against ANY govt intrusion. States CANNOT intrude on speech, bearing arms, fair trial, fair punishment etc. Those rights are upheld against any form of govt.

And blue laws aren't unconstitutional unless you can prove they establish religion.

Re: To Those Fans That Are Boycotting The ACCCG

I had 8 tickets for the ACCCG in Charlotte. I did not buy tickets for Orlando. Yes, some of it was out of principle. If the ACC had decided that no future games were to be played in NC, I would be fine with that (well, sort of). BUT... don't sell tickets to one venue and then change the venue. That's total BS. They could have stood on principle by saying "all future games" and got the same point across.
Also, I have two young kids and my in-laws are in Charlotte. I had a free place to stay, a babysitter and a venue only 1 1/2 hr from my house. Orlando would have been a 2-3 day trip with at least 1, maybe 2 nights in a hotel and I would have had to make arrangements for my kids to stay in the Upstate or pay someone's way to Orlando to watch them. They are too young to sit through a late game.
So, I will be cheering on the Tigers in front of the big screen but I will not be passing out $2 bills whilst in Orlando.

And this makes tons of sense. Lots of pwople are in your position, and for that reason, I understand the ire of the ACCs decision. They should have handled it better. I'm sorry you can't make it.. I'd be angry too.

Are people really boycotting?
Nov 28, 2016, 11:46 AM
|
|
Or rather prefer to not drive 7-8 hours to Orlando versus the 1-2 to Charlotte, then trying to justify it with some righteous claim?

They're mad at the ACC because they had an easy drive to Charlotte for the game and now it will be harder, and more expensive, so they "claim" some bogus boycott to justify not going.

I love my Tigers like everyone else on here but I won't be going to Florida for the ACC Champ Game either. We had bought 19 tickets to the game in Charlotte and then we accepted the refund. Only 2 of those will be going to Florida. I agree wholeheartedly that the ACC, once again, failed to stand up to logic and caved in to the "trivial few." We will be cheering the Tigers on while watching on TV. I had much rather be watching in person but I just can't support such a pitiful decision by our conference leaders.

Forgive me, but why watch the game? Protest properly!
Nov 28, 2016, 11:50 AM

If you are going to protest then take your family out to the movies or something...Don't watch the game...Take money from the TV people too!
I get the economics..Traveling to Charlotte is a lot easy both in time and money..but to say "I Protest" then eat chicken wings on your sofa and still watch the game is weak-sauce

Move their headquarters out of North Carolina, but they don't. I still don't understand the move or the issue. The ACC Championship game should be in a central location this was an awful move.

not going over principle.. i do believe people are angry they have to go to Orlando rather than Charlotte because of additional cost and time. Would these same people not go to NC to see clemson play in Charlotte or Gboro when SC was banned from hosting?
