Orange Bowl 1982

Will never forget the feeling of winning the National Championship, being in the stadium, and watching the team carry Danny on their shoulders across the field. I still have the front cover of Sports Illustrated with my ticket stub framed and on a shelf in my den. This was the height of my bowl experience as a Tiger Fan!! Anybody else there that night?

seeing Danny giving an interview after the game standing on a milk crate with a wad of tobacco in his mouth, spitting on the asphalt while he took questions.....i watched both the NC game and the '78 Gator Bowl at home as my mom wouldn't let me go because i was sick as a dog for both games. My father, a lifelong ND fan, was a closet Tiger fan...i remember him saying about Woody, "that ####### punched him!...he PUNCHED him....they have got to can his ###!"....during the NC game he said, "Son, there's 8 orange jerseys and hats on the ball every play....my god they play defense..."

Was also at the Charlie Bauman game but our seats were so low and behind the Ohio State bench that we did not know exactly what happened until we got back to the hotel.

Followed the Tigers that year all the way to Miami. What a great year - beating the Dogs, the Heels, the Deacons blowout, the coots, and the Huskers. You get spoiled starting college off with a football season like that, but you also get a taste for something that you really want to see again.

Was my sophomore year. Drove my roommates to Miami in my sister's new Chevy Citation. He he.
What an awesome memory.
Thought that was fun, let's do that again. Still waiting 32 years later.

Who remembers huge flag being flipped over 1982 Orange Bowl?

At beginning of game & it said "#1"? I'd like to hear everyone's story out there! I was 10 & wasn't there, but my parents say it was awesome when the cheerleaders flipped the flag over right before we came out & it read #1 because it wasn't expected! They said all Clemson fans went crazy!!!! Let's keep the NC memories going on here!

One of the dumbest things we did was run out of the stadium time the game was over because the bus driver that had taken us in had told us if we weren't on the bus when he got ready to leave he would leave us.
Wasn't no way in h3ll is was getting left in that part of town.
Sat around a bunch of Miami locals that had never really heard of Clemson. By the end of the game had them doing the cadence chant and jumping up and down with us!

real Orange Bowl stadium ... like it was a home game.
Seeing the "The City of Miami Welcomes You to The Orange Bowl" on the inner ring of the stadium - had seen it tons of times on TV as a huge Dolphins fan - was surreal.
There was a lady in the row right in front of us that had a huge stuffed animal tiger in the seat beside her. It had a sign around its neck that said something like "My name is CU Tiger and yes, I paid for my own seat." Said she was trying to get on TV.
The roar of the fans after the game coming down out the the stadium on the ramps - calling back and forth "CLEMSON" "TIGERS" was the loudest thing I had ever heard.
Tons more memories about that 3 or 4 days.

Besides the joy of winning the game, I remember exiting the stadium and Clemson fans shouting "The Big Eight knows where Clemson is."
