Golson will NOT end up with the gamecocks. Spurrier

is not interested. He has pretty much said as much in the past. He has had at least 2 black qbs start during his tenure, with mixed results. I think at least one new qb recruit is black, so it's not a color thing. I think it's a one-year-only thing. Spurrier didn't recruit Golson much when he was a MB qb. I think he ends up at FSU. Mayyyyyybe Texas

He seems like a bit of a head case. Those types typically do not do well with Spurrier's QB coaching tactics. C Shaw is literally the only SC QB so far that you could say was a good fit, and theres a pretty long list of FLA qbs that clearly didn't work out, as well as the QBs he coached in his brief NFL stint. Hate to say it, but when he finds a good fit its pretty dangerous, but when it doesn't work, it goes bad quick.

In a time that spread offenses have mostly black QB's, he has not had any really. I do not believe that is a coincidence.

Golson was NEVER interested in SCjr.Hust their fans and players hoping he'd come. 1 year players are interested in going somewhere that they can win.

It's cool to criticize Spurrier as a drunk, arrogant SOB, for his inability to win a championship at Scar, for his lazy approach to recruiting, etc. There is evidence to all that. I think it is not cool to say he doesn't want a black QB. None of us know that. And accusing someone of that is much worse than making fun of him for showing up loaded to his TV show.

I don't think it's so much "Spurrier doesn't want a black QB". My take has always been, Spurrier, especially when he was at Florida, looked for younger versions of himself to play the QB position. He's gotten away from that - some - at USC, mostly because 6-foot white guys who can't run and don't have strong arms don't really work anymore no matter how quick they get the ball out, but I always got the sense it was narcissism more than racism.
Spurrier has always sort of vicariously played the game through his QB. Dealing with somebody like Golson, the question is, how much is Spurrier going to connect with Golson - not so much because Golson's black, but because Golson's not anything like Spurrier was, as a Heisman Trophy-winning QB, either in background or playing style.
Can Spurrier get on the same wavelength with somebody very different than himself, in a very short period of time? That'll be the real trick. The guys he's done the best with at South Carolina were long-time system guys like Connor Shaw and even Dylan Thompson. And while Shaw was mobile, he was, again, very much like Spurrier the player. I don't know if anybody could have gotten through to Stephen "Achilles" Garcia, but he and Spurrier assuredly Did Not Connect.

Chickens have been quietly persuing Golson for a while.
The decision by Slive is huge. Golson is a game changer for the dirtpeckers.
Instead of 5-6 wins I would say 8-9 wins.

You must be about 12 years old and don't know the QB's Spurrier coached at Fla.

previous schools. Guess it fits with conference coat tails riders.Slurrier's offense has always depended on one thing. Spread the field out and attack the seam. With today's faster MLB's, that route only works 2-3 times a game. The game has passed him by.

don't see him making a difference for any team he would transfer to, unless it was a mid major. As far as teams like Texas and FSU, his play would hurt them more than help them.
