Battle to see more playing time?
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said after Wednesday's practice that reserve left tackle Isaiah Battle is beginning to "figure it out" and that the sophomore and New York native might be in line for increased playing time over the final four games. Full Story » |

I would be delighted, because it would mean that 2 very talented players finally got it and figured out that giving all you have every practice helps you get the chance to showcase your skills on Sat., and we need their skills.

I'm of the opinion that Battle is a "gamer"

he doesn't practice that well but performs above and beyond that in games. I truly believe our best options on the line are Battle at LT and Thomas at RT. I also hope Beasley starts pushing Davis at LG again, because Davis is very slow on pulls.

Great that you blamed Battle's bench riding on feminists. Dabo deals with behavior problems early so he doesn't end up in a fan war like spurrier (Garcia, Clowney) Apparently you missed some of the shortened playing time by Bryant at several games. Perhaps you are too busy hanging out in the DV toilets (your earlier post) to get a good view of the game.

out the OLine. We need recruiting to fix this. There has to be some JuCo guys out there that can come in and help immediately.

Recruiting or player development?

Linemen take a lot more development than most positions, and it takes a combination of great coaching and great S&C. One of those 2 doesn't seem to be doing the job.

Just to add, the more "intelligent" the line becomes, the better they will be. Where skill players gain intelligence, Linemen have to learn to gel with one another. That takes watching film together, executing film study to practice and rehearsal and taking it to the game. It also takes time. I just posted something about this earlier this week about playing center.

also while at Clemson I saw many o-line that looked great, had the skills, but the light never came on or they just didn't work hard enough. The one thing that is a risk is what's between the ears or in the heart of any 18 year-old.

Very true, but you'll likely get toasted for stating the obvious.

Or course those JuCo guys are out there, but Clemson is too "smart" or whatever to go get them, making a huge talent pool essentially unavailable to our coaching staff. With those kind of smarts, who needs dumb?
