A heart felt tweet from my adult daughter!

An appreciation post for DJ Uiagalelei. This guy came to Clemson and when he wasn’t Trevor 2.0 fans were hateful, mean, and frankly just disrespectful. They forget that these guys are STUDENT-athletes. After an underwhelming start DJ was the first to admit where he needed to improve, the first to admit his mistakes, and had been incredibly supportive of his teammates. DJ worked incredibly hard in the off seasons to get better, to get stronger, and his hard work paid off. He didn’t run from the hate from fans. DJ became a leader on an off the field, was humble when he was pulled. He earned his starting position and had a great season. DJ has given his heart and soul to this team and as soon as he has a bad game or 2 fans turn into sharks, and forget all the good he has done for Clemson Football. Did he play his best today…no. Is he solely responsible for today’s loss, or the ND loss, absolutely not. So to put this all on him is unfair. As Clemson alum, an athlete, & a coach, all this hate & negativity does get back to these players. Fans need to remember that DJ, Dabo, and the rest of the team are human. So thank you DJ (even though you probably won’t see this) for all that you have done for Clemson. Ignore the haters and let’s go win the ACC! ❤️?
I support every word she said.
Thank you DJ for you dedication and commitment to Clemson Football in the face of so many doubters and such criticism. And the post that said Humility built an Elite program is now letting Arrogance destroy it is absolutely correct. Maybe we lost some top recruits because the Clemson Family which the fan’s make up a big part has become nothing but BS. Recruits read what fans say. So many fans must also accept responsibility for possibly destroying a program in one night. Can we recover from a 1 point SC loss?? I don’t know. Will DJ recover from all the hateful spiteful things directed at him. It was a team loss including coaching.
I will be honest I don’t the the SC fans have ever acted as bad as some our fans have today! Call me what you want and am just posting what I see as the truth. Maybe some of you can’t handle the truth.
Thank Big Dave and Thank you DJ.

Maybe they are but many are the same guys who lead us to 2 NC’s in 4 years, several ACC Championships and 12 - 10 or more wins per season. Many teams would really appreciate that kind of performance year after year.
I posted once outside forces would bring down our football program from Elite Status but I never that it would be our own fan base arrogance!

People feel entitled, like they are owed victories and titles bc they donate money. There is also a lack of basic human decency nowadays.
I have a problem with coaching and what seems like a lack of practice and preparation, but am proud DJ is our QB. His resilience is something to behold.

To stay on top in football, one statement is key. "It's not what you have done. It is what you have done recently.".

I’ve lived in Columbia SC and have seen first hand how coot fans can react and act to how bad their seasons have been. I was also at the game and saw coot fans yelling and screaming at Clemson fans calling them losers and laughing at our QB, saying this isn’t the real Death Valley. DJ is a huge problem. I’ve tried to give the young man a break after last season, but there is no explanation for this season. He’s just not good, yet Dabo and Streeter continue to try and put lipstick on the pig. Dabo and Streeter have put DJ in a very difficult position and fans and even the media are blaming DJ, right or wrong. Offensive play calling sucks, WRs are also bad and underdeveloped . That’s on Grisham. Plenty of blame to go around and fans are pissed and lashing out. Hard to watch this program regress the past 2 years because of nepotism and stubbornness on Dabo’s part.
And why is Big Dave being thanked? And no, fans should not be accepting responsibility for “destroying the program in a single night”.

Sorry but fans didn’t lose ANY games this season. Coaches and players lost 2 games this year. I rarely post on here and try not to be negative but that is just the simple truth!

Negative fans can have a negative affect on coaches and players. As a former coach I have seen it first hand!
So you feel like it’s fine for fans to ride the gravy train but when adversity comes it’s ok to jump off until the players and coaches start winning again???

If you try to find anything positive when adversity hits you are just called a pumper and cultist. I’ve lived with it all year. At this point the best thing that can happen is put this behind us and whip NC Saturday.

Wow, so much wrong about this post. Not the part about DJ but the assumption made about the fans. Way off. 99.99% of the fans don't "hate" DJ. To suggest that is being blind to the fact that fans blame the coaching staff.
Honestly, it comes across as virtue signaling to be talking about all these so called haters of DJ that don't exist.

Yesterday, as I climbed down from the stratosphere of the upper deck I had an overwhelming sense of guilt. If only I had eaten more bojangles, DJ could have that upgraded sound system for his Porsche. When I helped my son attend Clemson I didn’t stop to think Dabos third cousins daughter could use that money at Alabama. And i got frustrated in traffic for a noon game forgetting that all that tv money may one day pay for a pro designed full 18 hole course instead of that rinky putt putt. In so sorry.

Were you one of the fans for NIL or did you fight to keep it from coming a new law. If you were for it, you have no right to complain about how much any players makes from NiL! If you were against it you need to keep fighting to get it changed.
When you were 22 and you were making $500,000 or more what would you have purchased?? These are kids that all of the sudden make more that the President of the United States and some pro athletes. They may not have the maturity to manage that kind of money.
I have said all along NIL and TP was very bad for college athletics.

Is ruining the clemson football program. Honestly, I’m totally ashamed that we pull for the same team. As an alum and an athlete, i can tell you that stuff like this gets back to the players and that they will be equally disgusted by this inane and childish drivel as I am.
Thank you dj, and thank you dj’s dad, because while one of you looked totally inept in the rivalry game and the other has proven to be completely unhinged, at least you’re better than this guy and his adult daughter. Gosh, just thank you so much

My daughter is a coach at the HS level and she has seen first hand how destructive parents and fans can be to a program. She has seen it destroy a player’s confidence. She has seen very talented players quit playing sports because of negative hateful comments from fans.
As for SC fans they acted exactly as I expected. But I did not see the hateful spiteful backlash and hurtful comments by so many CLEMSON fans. It was an embarrassment to Clemson University. I always felt we were better than DC fans but maybe we are just as bad. We live in a world of hate spread by social media, news media and ESPN.
Ask fans a question. Do you think CLEMSON fan’s reactions yesterday helped or hurt the future direction of Clemson football and recruiting???
By the way I wrote the second half of that post.

Thank you DJ, Dabo, & all the dawn the paw! I’ve been attending games since the Red Parker days so I’ve greatly appreciated what this staff has done to create players and men! To all the fence riders, yes it hurts, yes I’m upset BUT nothing like the west and Bowden eras!! My god, we’ve won 2 nattys with Dabo!! Change will happen whether we like it or not! All In 110%!! I think Frank would tell a lot of fans to keep their filthy hands off his rock!!!

Bwahahahaha. The kid is not a student athlete and hasn’t been for a long time. Did you forget his big sponsorships with Dr Pepper and Bojangles. Kid was getting paid, and Big Dave has been prostituting Mateyo out to the best offer.

Did you support NIL and the TP? If you did you have nothing to complain about because DJ can now cash your paychecks.
If you were against NIL keep fighting to either limit what they can make or get rid of it all together.

It's cool that you're not competitive and don't care about whether we play well or not. Now put your head back in the sand and quit trying to tell others how they should feel. I'm guessing Trump also hurt your feelings so you voted for Brandon?

It's cool they tried hard in all, but people get paid for results and not effort. Don't tell me I should be happy because they tried hard. Don't tell me I can't identify things that can be improved upon because they tried hard.

By what standard did DJ have “a great season”? Looking at the stats he seems to be middle of the pack mediocre this year.
