Just a reminder, for a little historical perspective: This DISAPPOINTING

football season matches the three BEST win total seasons we had under Tommy Bowden during his 9+ season tenure. So, you might want to take just a moment and THANK the man who has raised our expectations to the point that nine wins is now just a DISAPPOINTMENT. After all, nine wins was what the Pundits said our CEILING was, prior to Dabo Swinney getting the Clemson job. How DARE we want more?

Thank You, Coach Dabo Swinney. Now, get to work and let's enjoy the Ride to the Top of the Mountain, Part Deaux!

You're spot on, but the program has been off for at least 3 years, arguably 4, and we do miss the days when Clemson football enjoyed a bit more respect.

it is amazing to me that Brad Brownell can screw up Clemson basketball for 134 years and get a free pass
when Dabo has 2 10-3 records and a 9-4 record and get reviled for it. 2 Nat'l titles and 4 consecutive
playoffs. On the other hand, we have a mediocre Basketball coach who NEVER has been to a FINAL Four, a few NITs and hardly ever get into March Madness. Blows me away how ignorant most Clemson fans are.

Big Dabo fan, but he's a victim of his own success. If you win 2 national titles and have 6 playoff appearances, than by those standards the last 3 seasons have been a let down. The very fact that your comparing this season to Tommy Bowdens tenure proves this point. Tommy Bowden was average...this season was average. To continue playing devils advocate our basketball team has very little history of success. No nattys, no final fours, 1 elite 8. Like it or not, Brownells performance as head coach is at worst on par with our programs history. The last 3 seasons under Dabo have been a let down. Dont berate one coach for coaching to a historical average while celebrating another for elevating the standrd than failing to achieve it. A victory against a basketball school in a meaningless bowl is the equivalent of an NIL tourney invitation.

The last 3 seasons, 13th, 14th, and inside the top 20, are obviously not what we grew accustomed to, but that’s not chopped liver historically speaking.

That’s not what they said.

If you are a fan you should be aware we were in the midst of a 10 game season win streak. Behind FSU’s all-time streak and Alabama’s current. While we could, technically, have an even longer 9 game win streak, most Clemson fans know our current streak started after a 6-7 season. So, no, we don’t hold a record on consecutive win seasons.

Clemson football was from 2012 through 2020.

I also remember how hard it is to win and how mediocre Clemson football was for many years prior to Coach Dabo Swinney. 9 win season was once a great season, and to win the bowl game was a great end to season into the next season full of hope.

As a diehard Clemson fan, no other sports team means much of anything to me. Love the Braves, but do not follow them enough to know any off-season moves they have made simply because I choose to follow my heart and that is Clemson athletics.

I am happy the team won 9 games, and hope that the team can work toward improving but understanding that it is difficult to win football games.

Clemson was able to get to 9 wins.

Turnovers were the biggest problem this year. Not just that they were turnovers, but the timing and position of the football at the times they happened. Driving to put up a 2 score lead on FSU, 2 times fumbling inside the 5 yard line at Duke. Who knew that was a harbinger for several games this season, but by the end the team played better football and were able to get on track. The defense was put in bad spots numerous times and while they were not without faults at times, they played much better than the offense with the big addition of Riley. Talk about a little bit of disappointment, but again plenty of fault to go around and no need to worry about it now.

Go Tigers, beat those Dawgs!!

I also remember the Coots game, and I am sure you do as well. Picking out single games during a season will always produce some oddball games and as I stated. The defense was not perfect but they also did produce some very big plays at critical times to help win games.

turnovers and a missed easy field goal got us beat against FSU

Defense was rated top 10 in important categories and lead the country in defensive efficiency (possibly the most telling def stat)

Take away TO in the red zone, to that were taken back for TDs or possession inside our own 20, missed (makeable) fgs this season would have been totally different

Always mind blowing when fans try to assign a different meaning to "best is the standard". Do you not understand the actual meaning or just chose to use it incorrectly to support your narrative?

BTW he made only one bad hire which is Austin. Perhaps they were not all home run hires like Nick Eason but at this point only one has proven to be a sub-standard coach.

In my mind we really played two seasons September October and November December. The first was sluggish painful to watch how could this team come in with high expectations the second was something akin to what we have seen in the past 10 years getting back on track by beating Notre Dame, Blowing out Georgia tech, Beating a North Carolina team who had a top 5 qb in college football, making sure your rival didn't go to a bowl and making sure it is known that SC is Clemsons state and lastly coming back from behind by double digits something you failed to do early in the season to beat Kentucky. I think it's absurd to look at this season as a disappointment. It was looking disappointing at certain earlier junctures, amd certain **aspects** of the season were disappointing (that would be the case for most non-perfect seasons) but the final overall result is not disappointing. It's actually pretty easy to hold an appreciation for the overall positive result of a season while still recognizing the shortcomings.

So yeah, three cheers to Dabo. And I've been pretty critical of some things and I still hold to all that, but none of that negates what you said. Amen.
