It's really not all that complicated, IMHO.
Pace is, according to everybody I've talked to close to the program, in reality our runaway #1 RB right now. He's ahead of everybody at the moment. Basically Nick Chubb in terms of skillset, talent level, running style, etc....
Shipley, despite his, uhm, complexion, will likely remind Clemson RB coach CJ Spiller, of, well, CJ Spiller. Roadrunner. Breakaway speed. Fifth gear. Good hands. Guy you wanna get in space with the ball. Like a lot of young backs the key with him is going to be: pass-pro. Can you put him in, and not get the QB blown up? That's going to be particularly key this year, when DJU needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap, because we don't have anyone else. But as his comfort level increases his homerun ability and versality will likely get him reps; he's just too explosive and you want the ball in his hands because like an Etienne or a Spiller he does things.
Lyn-J Dixon's a good running back, I think everybody's seen that over the years, but he'd best bring his lunch if he wants to compete with the aforementioned fellows. One thing we've also seen over the years that seems to drive the staff absolutely batsh!t crazy is his tendency to dance laterally at the line looking for the homerun instead of sticking his foot in the ground and going north-south between the tackles, whereupon you see all sorts of angry body language going on with the staff on the sidelines, followed by stretches of a chastened Lyn-J on the bench. That likely won't fly this year with the young pups on his heels; he starts dancing, and the young guys seem unlikely to give him his spot back.
Speaking of talented young guys, Phil Mafah is as talented as anybody. That guy looks like a fairly prototypical Nick Saban running back, the kind you wonder if somehow got some sort of supersoldier formulation that makes him slightly more than the rest of us. Again, young guy, pass-pro questions, but Oh My...talented. Be interested to see how soon that guy factors.

I 100% believe you on Pace.

He ran like a man possessed in the spring game and that was behind half the starting offensive line. He's like a better, faster Adam Choice, and I LOVED Adam Choice. The only thing keeping him from potentially getting 15 touches a game is if we get Good Lyn-J more consistently. Cause when Good Lyn-J was on the field, it was almost like Etienne had never left.
Either way, I'm excited to watch our backs. Them and the receivers. I think the coaches may have intentionally not put EJ Williams on the top of one of the WR spots to light a fire under him, because I firmly believe he's our #2 WR, possibly even our #1 for a few games while Ross shakes off the rust.

I agree with you on Dixon. When he decides to just make one cut and go he's #### good. But lately he's almost too patient and ends up either losing yards or not getting nearly as much as he could of he just hit the hole. Just based off the spring game he would be my number 2 behind Pace and I would actually have Mafah and Shipley tied for 3rd.

All the talk of Pace is why I love this time of year. Most of us only see the Tigers at Game time, so it’s always cool to hear we got more dudes to keep the Dabo machine running.

Shipley is gonna get major reps on special teams this year with LJD and Pace ahead of him. He's gonna be a solid return man on both KR and PR. With Amari/ETN gone, I think Shipley will get his due in the return game. Felt like we have legit ST corps this time around, for the first time in a very long time. Thank friggin God that Pearman has moved on. I imagine both ST and TEs will improve drastically.

Since you’re on this site and Tigernet has published the depth chart and it’s readily available and easily accessed, you must be trying to start something. What exactly are you implying?
