Homecoming
Clemson's official homecoming is not until October 15 when NC State comes to town, but this Saturday is an unofficial homecoming. Clemson has played five straight games away from home for the second time 1964. The last home game was the Wake Forest game last November. Clemson has played in Columbia, Charlotte, Miami, Phoenix and Auburn, so it will be great to get back to Death Valley.

While that streak stops this weekend, another weird streak continues. This will be the third straight game where Clemson will face an opponent from Alabama. This is the first time since 2003 the Tigers will face three straight teams from the same state. That year Clemson played Wake Forest, North Carolina, and NC State in consecutive weeks.

The home opener will be a sight for sore eyes for many Tiger fans. The First Friday Parade is a welcomed tradition, and it's always good to get back home and watch the Tigers run down the hill. However, I am looking forward to this weekend for another reason. I can't wait to see some new faces for the first time.

Some don't like the blowout games where Clemson is favored by 35 points. I might be in the minority, but I can't wait to see some of the reserves get playing time.

Maybe we will emerge from the next two games with a clearer picture of the backup quarterback spot. Hopefully, we will see Tavien Feaster in his first action this weekend. I want to see Cornell Powell as well. My guess is we will see different faces in the return game and maybe Feaster and Powell will make a difference.

We have heard a lot of talk about all three freshmen offensive linemen, so the next two weeks would be a great time for John Simpson, Sean Pollard, and Tremayne Anchrum get their first snaps.

I want to see more of Tre Lamar at linebacker. We saw him for a few snaps at Auburn, but the next two weeks we should get more of a sample size.

Speaking of the defense, we did not get any snaps from Trayvon Mullen last week. I expect that will not be the case this week, and I want to see how he compares to Ryan Carter and Mark Fields.

So as much as I love watching Deshaun Watson, I don't want to see him in there in the second half the next two weeks. The perfect plan is to execute early and get the starters out early. The next two weeks will be about getting healthy and getting experience for some fresh faces.
