Well to be fair, for at least a while in 2020, most thought the medical establishment could be trusted on things like this, including, I'm sure, Trump. Now of course we all know what we are dealing with but it's hard to blame Trump for basically trying to do what he was told. He shut down an economy which was humming along and was the linchpin of his reelection hopes to safe lives based on a bunch of science hating bureaucrats who wanted hin out of office. I'd be more concerned about Democrats who would gleefully return to forced vaccines, mask compliance and shelter in place requirements if they could get away with it if I were you.
