CLEMSON RECRUITING

Xavier Dye Making the Most of Opportunities

Xavier Dye

Wide Receiver

Byrnes High School

6'5", 205 pounds

The first eight weeks of Xavier Dye's senior season consisted of days that no high school football player should have to endure. Because the South Carolina High School League had not ruled the Dye, a transfer from Greenwood High, was eligible, he had to stand on the sidelines every Friday night and watch his new teammates make a run at a fifth consecutive state title.

"Having to watch everyone else play was very frustrating," Dye said. "It was kind of hard to practice when I knew I would not have the chance to help my team win on Friday. But my teammates kept encouraging me. They told me to keep my head up because my time would come."

Dye's time came in week nine, and he has made the most of it. In just three games, the senior wide receiver has tallied nealry 400 yards, and has six touchdown catches. In the Rebels 56-7 playoff win over Wando last week, Dye had eight catches for 122 yards, including two touchdowns.

"I feel like I am getting better with every game," Dye said. "I am having a lot of fun, and just trying to make the most of the season I have left. I don't have any regrets about what has happened. I am just happy to be at Byrnes."

Dye also plans to be happy next season, as a member of the Clemson Tigers.

"When I was waiting to be ruled eligible, Clemson told me not to worry about anything, and that really meant a lot to me," Dye said. "I love the atmosphere at Clemson, and my commitment to them is still very solid."
