Tramaine Billie Commits to Clemson

CLEMSON -- According to Mickey Plyler, Dreher running back and linebacker Tramaine Billie (6-1 195) has committed to Clemson. He selected the Tigers over South Carolina and Maryland. He is ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the state of South Carolina by Mickey Plyler.

"The reason I chose Clemson is I wanted to be close to home but not too close to home," said Billie. "It was a hard decision between two good schools (Clemson and South Carolina)."

Billie is a fast and powerful runner who is also the Class AAA 100-meter champion. As a junior Billie rushed for 2003 yards and 19 touchdowns. Despite some injuries which cost him two games, he rushed for 1550 yards and 20 touchdowns this past season and was selected to the North-South All-Star game.

Billie committed to the Gamecocks in May but started to talk about visiting other schools in November. After a visit to Clemson on January 10th the Tigers had pulled even with the Gamecocks’ for his services. He is expected to cancel a trip to Maryland on January 24th.

"Billie to Clemson is news because anytime you get a player that was committed to your arch rival means the rivalry only gets bigger," said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. "He has great speed and a nice frame. Billie can play running back, wide receiver or in the secondary. This commitment is big for the Tigers."

Clemson assistant Brad Scott recruited Billie for the Tigers.
