Tony McDaniel Commits to the Tigers |
CLEMSON -- On his birthday, defensive lineman Tony McDaniel (6-7 275) decided to give himself a present and commit to Clemson. The Keenan High School senior selected the Tigers over Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. He is ranked as the No. 6 prospect overall in the state of South Carolina by Mickey Plyler, and the No. 1 defensive lineman.
"Clemson had a lot to offer academically and athletically," said McDaniel. "I really liked their weight room. I think Clemson is going to be a very good home to me the next four or five years." Last season McDaniel had 97 tackles and 16 sacks and was selected to the Shrine Bowl. "Mostly when I line up, they ran the ball the opposite way," said McDaniel. "When they passed it, I was back there a lot so I had 16 sacks." McDaniel visited Clemson on January 10th and was leaning to the Tigers after that visit. This past weekend he visited Tennessee and he plans on canceling a trip he has scheduled to Georgia. "I plan on coming to Clemson and making a lot of things happen on defense," said McDaniel. McDaniel also runs track and play on the basketball team. McDaniel was recruited by Clemson assistant Brad Scott. 2003 Reported Commitments 1 QB C.J.
