Deantwan Whitehead was one of several unofficial visitors that took in the Clemson-Miami game. Whitehead came away very impressed with Clemson.
"I was able to talk with Coach Swinney. He apologized for not winning the game. I told him that he had nothing to be ashamed of, that was a battle. Coach Swinney is very competitive, so I understood how he felt." "I let him know that it did not hurt their standing with me. The atmosphere was wild. The fans were going nuts the entire game. When Clemson started coming back, you could not even hear the person next to you." The West End standout paid close attention to the Tigers defensive ends. "I think I would fit in well in their defensive scheme. They do a lot of five technique that is where you line up outside the tackle. They were able to get good pressure on Miami." Whitehead has set up official visits with Louisville and Arkansas. He says Clemson will more than likely be one of his official visits, and then he hopes to go out west. "I have the visits with Louisville and Arkansas set. I told Coach Swinney that he would probably see me again. I think he wanted me to come the weekend of their banquet. When they have their banquet, he said they try to get their top guys in. I want to set up official visits to California and UCLA. The UCLA coaches want to come see me play. If they come, maybe we can set something up then." Whitehead was previously committed to Clemson, but now he is non-committal on a top five. "I am looking at everyone, who has offered me. I have around 15 offers." In his senior season for West End, Whitehead is putting up good numbers. "I don't know my totals for the year. Friday night I had 12 tackles. Four or five were for loss, and one was a sack."
