South Pointe High School (SC) has rolled to a 14-0 record and Clemson commit
Derion Kendrick has anchored that run.
In his latest outing, Kendrick, a receiver commit who plays QB for the Stallions, totaled five touchdowns rushing and two passing in a 67-21 win at Greer, advancing to the state championship versus Hartsville (Dec. 2, 6:30). Kendrick rushed for 162 yards and connected on 16-of-21 passes for 240 yards. “It’s just fun watching him,” South Pointe coach Strait Herron told the Rock Hill Herald after the game. “I’m gonna have to video every Clemson game if I can’t watch it just to see him do that some more. It’s gonna be sorely missed.”
Kendrick has completed 71.4 percent of his passes this season for 2,546 yards, with 27 touchdowns to six interceptions. He topped 1,000 rushing yards against Greer (1,075) with 19 more scores.
Other Clemson commits still playing include Kendrick teammate and placekicker BT Potter, as well as Greater Atlanta Christian's Kyler McMichael (14 rushes for 154 yards in a 51-14 win Friday) and 2019 Calhoun (Ga.) athlete Brannon Spector (31-7 win over Liberty County).
