Two Clemson targets to commit on ESPNU

ESPN will provide multi-day, multi-platform coverage of the early National Signing Day period as the 2018 freshmen class is the first recruiting class to have the choice of utilizing the new signing period that runs for 72 hours beginning Wednesday, Dec. 20 and concluding Friday, Dec. 22. Five of the nation’s top recruits—four in the Top 20 of the ESPN 300—will make their announcements as part the two-day event on ESPNU, including No. 5 K.J. Henry and No. 10 Terrace Marshall Jr. SEC Network will air conference centric coverage and Longhorn Network will dedicate four hours to the Longhorns’ newest recruiting class.

ESPNU

ESPNU will air a two-hour National Signing Day Special on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 2:30 p.m. ET and Friday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m. Matt Schick will host both specials, joined by analyst Tom Luginbill, who has been a part of National Signing Day coverage since 2006. ESPN.com’s Tom VanHaaren will report throughout both shows.

Recruits of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, FSU, LSU, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech will make their announcements as part of the two day special. On Wednesday, No. 5 K.J. Henry, No. 19 Cade Mays, No. 13 Brenton Cox and No. 45 Anthony Cook will make their announcements live on ESPNU. As part of Friday’s special, No. 10 Terrace Marshall Jr. is expected to make his decision between FSU, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M.

SEC Network

SEC Network will air a three-hour SEC Now: National Signing Day Special presented by ZipRecruiter beginning on the first day of the new signing period (Dec. 20) at noon. Coverage will be hosted by Dari Nowkhah, joined by analysts Craig Haubert and Gene Chizik, and reporters stationed at various SEC universities, to break down the significance of each player’s announcement for that particular school.

That morning, the network will air two-minute National Signing Day updates at the top of the 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. hours. Then, at 11 p.m. a one-hour SEC Now presented by ZipRecruiter will recap the day’s events.

Longhorn Network

Texas Football National Signing Day presented by Cavender’s will air on Longhorn Network, live from the Texas Football Trophy Room also on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. and will include instant updates as athletes sign their letters of intent. Lowell Galindo will host the coverage, joined by analysts and former Longhorns Ahmad Brooks and Emmanuel Acho. Galindo, Brooks and Acho will breakdown each signee’s game and what impact each will have on the future of Texas Football. Texas head coach Tom Herman, along with other members of the Longhorns coaching staff, will join the crew on set during the telecast. LHN will also broadcast Coach Herman’s press conference live, where he will give insight into his 2018 recruiting class. Wrapping up the day’s coverage will be a one-hour recap show airing at 8 p.m.

ESPN.com

ESPN.com’s coverage will preview National Signing Day on Monday, Dec. 18, and Tuesday, Dec. 19., with storylines to watch, predictions for the top recruits and an FAQ on the sport’s first early signing day. With National Signing Day beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 20, coverage from Wednesday-Friday will include news, updates from campus sites and class rankings will be updated two-three times/day.

ESPN will continue its National Singing Day coverage in February, with coverage details announced at a later date.
