Bowers was arrested at New York's LaGuardia Airport on February 18, 2013 after he reported having a .40 caliber handgun in his carry-on bag. There were no bullets in the gun, but there were bullets near the gun in a separate location. Under New York law if bullets are found next to the weapon, it is considered loaded. Bowers was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and freed on a $10,000 bond.
