Clemson has already received one verbal commitment at tight end with Michael Palmer. The staff is not finished at tight end. The coaching staff watched Lee County, NC tight end Dennis Godfrey at the Shrine Bowl, and they offered Godfrey shortly after.
Godfrey is currently committed to Wake Forest, but he is opening up his services. "I committed to Wake Forest earlier, but now I have some other schools that are coming after me. Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech have all offered. Everything has started happening really fast, so I want take my official visits before I make my final decision." Godfrey will visit Wake Forest January 6, Clemson January 13, South Carolina January 16, Virginia January 20, and Virginia Tech January 27. Clemson has a newfound interest in tight ends with Rob Spence at the helm of the offense. Godfrey says he understands Clemson has a need at tight end. "They are just now really starting to use the tight end in the offense. They want to use the tight end more, so I would have a chance to come in and play early." Marion Hobby is recruiting Godfrey for the Tigers, and we will continue to track Godfrey through January.
