Torrell Johnson - Defensive Line

ESPN: NR

The Tigers are still looking to land a defensive tackle for the 2006 class. One player who remains under close evaluation is Torrell Johnson from Conyers, Georgia. Johnson visited Clemson in the spring and came away very impressed.

We had a chance to speak with Salem High School Athletic Director Johnny Tucker recently.

"When I took Torrell to Clemson in the spring, we watched them practice and then Coach Hobby took him aside to speak with him. Torrell came out of the room all smiles. I know he was very impressed with Clemson, and if they offered, I believe he would give them a serious look."

Coach Hobby did speak with Johnson one-on-one, but the recruiter on record is Ron West. Coach West has a very good relationship with Mr. Tucker. Coach West landed current Tiger Zach Green a few years ago from Salem.

Johnson has offers from Ole Miss and Maryland. Clemson is watching his academics closely, and if his grades are in order, Clemson will most likely come forth with an offer.

Johnson comes from a winning program that went 13-1 last year only losing in the semifinals of the playoffs. We will continue to keep you updated on where Johnson stands with the Tigers.
