Daniel high wide receiver Will Swinney has signed his NLI on Wednesday morning as a walk-on at Clemson.

"I have been recruiting this kid for 18 years and paid his mother a lot of money," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney joked as he announced his son's signing at Clemson's NSD party.

Swinney went on to say that his son has worked very hard to get to this point in his football career.

"I've never recruited anyone who has worked harder to achieve his dreams than my son," Swinney said. "He's special. I just couldn't be more proud. I couldn't wait to get up this morning and introduce him."

The younger Swinney played several roles on Daniel’s varsity team – wide receiver, cornerback, and special teams – but when he gets to Clemson, he just wants to help the Tigers win. He discussed his possible role with the Tigers recently with TigerNet.

“"I just want to do whatever I can to help the team win," Swinney said. "I'm versatile. In high school, I played offense and defense. I played all special teams, also. I'll probably try to start out there first,” he said. “I also held on field goals for the past five years, so I might end up doing that. Just working hard on my craft at receiver, I think one of my advantages is that I'm very knowledgeable already and have good technique and if I just keep working and getting stronger and more explosive, I think I can improve and be a difference maker."
