TS: Talk about your decision to commit to Clemson

After evaluating all my options and looking for playing time and a place I felt comfortable and after I had taken a couple of unofficial visits up there (Clemson) in the spring and also to the camp and every time I just felt more and more comfortable. After talking to my recruiting coordinator Coach Swinney he broke it down to me that when I come in there will only be three tight ends so I will have a chance to play early which I like a lot. I have teammates already up there and they are recruiting some of my (current) teammates. So I just feel it will be a great place to be and play for four years.

TS: What is your current weight room stats and height and weight numbers?

6-4, 240 and I run a 4.8. My bench max in 315 and my squat max is about an even 400.

TS: I know you also play defensive end. Were schools looking at you at that position also?

It was mainly tight end but a couple of schools asked me if I would be willing to switch over and of course I was but Clemson recruited strictly as a tight end.

TS: When the coaches looked at your film what they like so much?

They like my blocking a lot because I was mainly utilized as a blocking tight end. But when they did see me catch the ball they saw that I have nice hands and I was hard to bring down.

TS: What are you going to work on before you get to Clemson next year?

I want to work on my speed. When I get to Clemson I want to be running around a 4.6. I think that will help me a lot get in the open field. They told me they needed a tight end that could get out and make big catches and move the chains. I think I can do that. I have pretty good hands so I just want to work on my speed and get that up so I can make big plays.

TS: Are you close to your cousin and former Tiger Rod Gardner? Have you talked to him about your decision?

We are not that close. We share the same first cousin that we both are close to. Our cousin tried to get in contact with him to let him know I was coming up. Hopefully I will get a chance to talk to him and find out how he liked it. Coach Bowden told me he loved it a lot. There were pictures of him in his office. He was a standout player up there and hopefully I can go up there and do the same thing.

TS: Do you play any other sports? Will you try to continue to play those sports at Clemson?

I play baseball..pitcher and first base. That was actually one of the first things I asked Coach Swinney when I visited up there would I have the opportunity to try out and walk on the baseball team. He told me yes it would be no problem. They actually had another football player on the baseball team so that helped me make my decision.
