Josh Miller, the top linebacker in South Carolina, committed to the Tigers last week over Florida State. Miller was recruited by running backs coach Burton Burns. This was the second commitment for Coach Burns this year long with Stratford DB Hadrian Lewis.

"I called Coach Burns to tell him I wanted to commit, and he was real excited. Coach Burns is a great guy, and he played a big role in my commitment."

Miller took a trip down to FSU on July 22, and the campus did not fit him as well as Clemson's.

"When I went down to FSU everything was so spread out, and at Clemson everything is more compact. It makes moving from place to place easier. Clemson is where I felt like I wanted to be. It is not too far from home, but not to close to home either. The atmosphere is great, and the things they do on defense just fits with me."

Miller will most likely be an outside linebacker for the Tigers, and expects to have a chance to play next year.

"They told me I will have chance to come in and play right away. I wanted to be able to come in and play early."

Miller has already had a couple of scrimmages this year, while in the scrimmages he has played mostly at running back.

"The first scrimmage I had 11 carries for 78 yards, and in the second scrimmage I had 15 carries for 98 yards."

Clemson will look to add 2-3 more linebackers in this class.
