McKissic Returns From Clemson
Jacquez McKissic had committed to Clemson last season, but had to sit out a year waiting to get his test score. Around a month ago, McKissic confirmed to Coach Dabo Swinney that he had received his score and would enroll at Clemson on January 9. McKissic took another official visit to Clemson yesterday.
"Since I am enrolling in January, I just went up there to get my schedule and housing taken care of. We were able to get that done."
McKissic met up with former Opelika teammate Adrian Kindred. Also spent some time with several current Tigers, and potential prospects.
"I spent most of my time with Adrian, (Cory) Groover, and Justin (Miller). I had a great time with them. Justin said he is still trying to decide on whether to stay or leave for the NFL. He had James McKinney with him. I think McKinney had a good time in Clemson. Clemson definitely impressed him as it should."
Coach Tommy Bowden called McKissic earlier in the week and informed him of the coaching changes that would be made.
"We didn't really talk about it yesterday. Bowden had told me earlier in the week the decision he had made. He encouraged me that they will be alright, and he will put the right coaches in place. I would not mind at all if Coach (David) Blackwell is the new defensive coordinator."
The coaches will look for McKissic to make an early impact starting in spring practice. McKissic can play either defensive end or tackle, but with the depth at defensive end we project McKissic to start out at defensive tackle.
