Clemson has one of the nation’s top secondary classes currently committed. Fort Dorchester’s Byron Maxwell was the first to commit to Clemson. Maxwell suffered a torn ACL and missed his senior season, but he was clearly one of the Tigers’ top targets.
Maxwell made an official visit to Clemson this past weekend. “It went real well. I had a good time. Haydrian Lewis was my host. I knew him a little bit before, from playing against him in high school.” Maxwell was clear and to the point when he was asked about what stood out to him on his visit. “The guys coming in with me.” Maxwell was recruited by Burton Burns. Maxwell had a chance to sit down with Coach Burns on his visit. “Coach Burns is real cool. We talked about my knee, and how my recovery was going. Rehab is going real well. I am doing pretty good. I am not sure about making cuts right now, but I am working on it. It was very hard for me this season. My team had a losing season, and I knew I could help. I didn’t get the chance to dominate.” Maxwell plans to enroll at Clemson in July, and he has not given up on playing for the Tigers next season. “I am coming in on July 6th. If I am good enough, I will play. Clemson has a lot of coverages, but I will learn them.” Maxwell’s parents made the trip to Clemson with him. His parents were blown away by the visit to Clemson. “My Mom and Dad came with me. They liked it. My Mom really liked it.” Maxwell will take no other visits.
