Last season, North Augusta had one of the most coveted prospects in South Carolina in CJ Byrd. Byrd signed with Georgia this past Wednesday, but now the process will begin for Byrd's teammate Marcus Jackson.

College scouts came away very impressed with Jackson on their trips to North Augustat scouting Byrd. Jackson will most likely be the top linebacking prospect in South Carolina in 2006. Jackson was invited to games at Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida State, and Virginia Tech last season.

Jackson does not have any offers yet, but they are not far behind. He is receiving heavy amounts of mail from both in state schools, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

"“I’ve told people all along that it won’t be a surprise if Marcus ends up with more offers than me,” said Byrd, who more than 30 offers. “Marcus will be the first to tell you he has lot of areas he can improve in, but he excels in two areas: he can run and he will hit you.”

“I don’t have any favorite colleges because I haven’t really thought about it,” Jackson said. “My focus right now is on North Augusta football. Coach Long said all of that other stuff (recruiting) will take care of itself later on.”
