One of the top targets early for Clemson was Durham native Carl Johnson. Johnson is one of the top players in the country regardless of position. He surprised many with his early verbal commitment to the University of Florida. Marion Hobby has never stopped recruiting Johnson, but will Johnson open up?

"I am a Gator. Coach Hobby has stayed in contact. He has been very classy, throughout everything. I have respect for him and Clemson, but I feel Florida is the best place for me."

Several other schools are still recruiting Johnson, but it appears it will take something drastic to pull Johnson away from the Gators.

We will continue to keep our eye on Johnson, but he appears to headed for the swamp.
