Hivera Green - Defensive Line
Height: 6-5   Weight: 270   Hometown: Conway, SC (Conway HS)   Class: 2005
ESPN: NR

Hivera Green (6-5, 270, 4.8) of Conway, SC enjoyed a good senior season. He had 8 sacks, five pass break ups, 130 tackles, 30 tackles for loss. We talked to him Sunday morning at the Shriners Hospital.

“I had to sit out three games due to an ankle sprain,” says Green. “Making the Shrine Bowl is a big honor. Everything about this game is an honor.”

Green added, “I feel like I play hard every play. I don’t take a play off. I have the strength and speed to make plays. I have a nose to take me to the ball. Schools tell me since I am already 270 and I might could move inside but if I keep my quickness I can play defensive end. To me it really does not matter I just want to play.”

He will take three official visits in January. Here is what he said about his three planned trips:

USC-“Coach Spurrier is recruiting me for the Gamecocks. Really I didn’t like the Gamecocks a lot but since they have a new coach I will visit and see how it is and everything.”

Clemson-“Coach Swinney is recruiting me for Clemson. They were my first offer and they stuck with me through this whole thing. I feel like I have a good relationship with Ron West the defensive line coach. I feel like they have strong recruiting system at Clemson.”

Virginia Tech-“Coach Charlie West is recruiting me for the Hokies. I feel like our relationship is very strong. The unofficial visit I took there was great. They beat West Virginia. It was a real big eye opener for me.”

“Ohio State is supposed to get back to me about if they want me to visit.”

Green lists Virginia Tech and Clemson as his leaders.

Conway has three players that will sign Division I-A scholarships. “Eric (Huggins) knows where to be on the field,” says Green. “He makes special plays on the field. He makes plays in crunch time. If you throw it up he will go get it. Bobby (Wallace) has put in work since we all started in our sophomore year. He will be a good player. USC gave him a chance to show his ability and I am happy for him.”

When asked what he is looking for in a school Green said, “The coaching staff, how I get along with the players and see if I fit into that environment.”
