(Thomasville, Ga./Thomasville) is a 2013 outside linebacker prospect from south Georgia. Mathis, 6-foot-1 and 225-pounds, recently picked up a scholarship offer from USF.

“As far as I know, USF is his first scholarship offer,” said Richie Marsh, Thomasville’s coach. “I know he’s been down there a few times. He’s also been to Florida State, South Carolina and a few other places, but I don’t think none of those schools have offered him.”

Mathis has the make-up to turn himself into quite a big-time prospect.

“Mario is an extremely talented and very gifted player,” Mathis said. “He fits the bill and looks the part. He’s an outside linebacker with long arms and lots of talent.”

He has attended the Clemson football camp.
