Height: 6-2 Weight: 215 Hometown: Port Orange, FL (Spruce Creek HS) Class: 2006
Jeremy Campbell went through a fairly quiet recruiting process. He was identified by the staff, and he remained safely under the radar. Now, the staff hopes he will prove to be one of the steals of the 2006 recruiting class.
Campbell will add more size and speed to the linebacker corps at Clemson. The game of college football has seen many changes. One big change has been the smaller and more rangy linebackers. At lot of schools are filled at linebacker with prospects that project as a safety at the the next level. Campbell and his fellow signee Kevin Alexander are part of the newer breed. Now, you are starting to see more and more 6-2, 6-3 linebackers who are running sub-4.6 forties. It is not a new philosophy, but what is new is now there are more of this breed to choose from. This past season Ohio State and Iowa were about the only two programs in the country with a stable full of the big and fast linebackers. Campbell will look to crack the top eight in the rotation. If he cracks the top eight he will play. Linebackers coach David Blackwell plays an eight man rotation each season. Freshman Forecast: 50/50
