The class of 2007 is off to strong start this summer. Clemson has already landed three verbal commitments this summer. Scotty Cooper joined Stanley Hunter and Landon Walker on Friday, as he pledged his services to Clemson.

Cooper was thought to be a heavy lean to South Carolina at the start of his recruitment, decided to go with the Tigers in the end.

"Clemson is the best fit for me. When I was on campus, it just felt like home."

While some players have made their announcements a big show this year, Cooper handled his decision with class beyond his years.

"Before I made my decision known I called Tennessee and South Carolina. Their coaches had put in a lot of time recruiting me, and I had really enjoyed talking with them. If not Clemson, it would have been one of those two. Both coaches wished me well."

Cooper chose Clemson over offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, Penn State, Michigan, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

This Lake City product is the second linebacker to verbally commit to the Tigers. One more linebacker and the Tigers will call it day at linebacker for the 2007 class.
