As a freshman, he had 125 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. On offense, he had 22 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Hines has early offers from Akron, Arkansas, Clemson, Hawaii, Mississippi State, Navy, Southern Mississippi, Washington State, Utah and others.
