Rodney Prince is scheduled to take an official visit to Clemson this weekend. Prince is the top remaining defensive end prospect on the board. Prince did not hesitate, when asked if he was looking forward to the trip.

“Yes, I am real excited. My father is coming with me. They haven’t told me who my player host will be.”

Prince is being recruited by Marion Hobby, but he spoke with Dabo Swinney earlier this week.

“I talked to Coach Swinney yesterday. He said he was real excited about me coming on the visit. He asked who was coming with me and he got some personal information. He said they will give me an itenary when I get there. He said I am going to have a great time.”

Prince has seen the game atmosphere in Death Valley, so what will he be looking for on his official visit?

“I have been to a game there before so I know what that is like. The overall structure of the campus, and the academics. I want to get a chance to talk to the coaches more, when I went to the Florida State game, I didn’t get a chance to see all the coaches.”

What would it take for the Tigers to turn Prince?

“The whole overall experience, especially academics, and see the environment I will be in. I will sit down with my Dad and see if the best place for me. I will compare the Clemson visit with the Mississippi State visit. I just have to go where my heart is.”

Prince has a unique relationship with Coach Hobby.

“He went to my high school before he went to Tennessee. His mom is really good friends with my mom. His sister and mom stay about five to 10 minutes away. We have had a chance to get to know each other for a long time. He was the first person to ever recruit me, when he was at Ole Miss and I was in the 10th grade.”

We do not expect Clemson to receive a verbal commitment from Prince this week, but we do like the Tigers chances with Prince.
