Ryan Williams - Defensive Back
Height: 5-11   Weight: 175   Hometown: Mobile, AL (B.C. Rain HS)   Class: 2007
ESPN: NR

Ryan Williams made his tour through the summer camps, and now he has trimmed his list to a final six.

"Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Memphis, and South Carolina are my top six. It will be one of those six schools that I pick."

Memphis is offering to allow Williams to play both ways. It is an offer that has definitely kept the mid-major a factor.

"Memphis says they could use my athleticism on both sides of the ball. I know it would not be like playing both ways in high school, but it is a challenge that interests me. The other schools want me as a safety, which is fine."

One thing Williams did note about his top six is four of the schools have recently had a first round draft back in their secondary.

"I want to go to a school that knows how to develop their defensive backs. Clemson, LSU, Auburn, and South Carolina have all had defensive backs go in the first round recently. All of the schools have had players drafted from their secondary."

Do the in-state programs currently hold the edge?

"Alabama and Auburn are the favorites, because they are in-state. I am not opposed to going out of state. It is a good situation in Alabama, when you have two in-state programs that compete on a national level. It is going to be a tough decision, but I have some time."

We will continue to track Williams, as he gets closer to a decision.
