Here is the latest update from the PR guy in North Augusta:

North Augusta's C.J. Byrd, the state's consensus No. 1 prospect, started at

both WR and DB in the 20-18 season-opening loss to rival Strom Thurmond this

past weekend.

Byrd's biggest play of the game was an electrifying 65-yard interception

return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter during North Augusta's comeback.

However, the referees ruled that Byrd's foot hit out of bounds at the 30-yard

line, making the return for 35 yards. He finished with eight tackles and one

interception on defense, and three catches for 32 yards on offense.

"I'm never satisfied with any game I've ever played and the Thurmond game was

no exception," Byrd said. "I really don't care about individual stats. The only

thing that matters is winning, and we didn't win. It was a bad week. We have to

put it behind us and move on."
