With Clemson assistant Dabo Swinney watching, North Augusta’s CJ Byrd had one of his best games of the season in Friday’s loss to Irmo.
Byrd had eight catches for 90 yards, a 44-yard kickoff return and 12 tackles. The 6-foot-3, 189-pound WR/DB had played sparingly in the last three games due to a high ankle sprain. Swinney was at the game as Clemson is one of Byrd’s five finalists, along with Georgia, Southern Cal, Florida State and Florida.
