Darius Gaither is one of the fastest prospects Clemson has on the board. Gaither is being recruited to play safety, a position the Tigers are offering early playing time. With the commitment of DeAndre McDaniel, the Tigers are looking to land one more big time safety prospect.

"I was able to speak with Coach Scott and Coach Bowden. They told me they wanted me to play for them. Coach Scott said I would have a chance to come in and compete right away. Early playing time is pretty important."

The atmosphere last Saturday left a big impression on Gaither.

"You hear a lot of schools talk about playing in front 80,000 people, but the Clemson fans brought it against Miami. It was a lot louder than I thought it would be. As soon as the cannon first goes off, the fans go crazy for the rest of the game."

Does Gaither have any other visits planned?

"I plan on going to NC State and Tennessee. I am going to come back to Clemson, when they play Florida State. Also, I will more than likely be at the Clemson-South Carolina game."

Tennessee and Clemson have been the quiet front runners for Gaither, but he is laying low for the time being.

"I really can't say I have a favorite right now. My decision will be after all five of my official visits. It will be close to Signing Day, when I make up my mind."

We will continue to track Gaither throughout the season.
